And then Dead Island 2 was delayed again

This time, it should only be a matter of a couple of months.

Three months after Dead Island 2 rose from the dead, the game has been delayed yet again. This time, however, it doesn’t look like the wait will be as long as last time, with developer Dambuster Studios only needing an extra 12 weeks.

Instead of February 3, the game will be released on April 28, 2023. Via their website, Dambuster expressed their disappointment and the decision, but promises that this is for the best.

The irony of delaying Dead Island 2 is not lost on us, and we are just as disappointed as you undoubtedly are. The delay is only 12 short weeks and the development is on the upswing now. We’re going to take the time we need to make sure we can launch a game we’re proud to launch. For those of you who have been waiting for years, we say thank you for sticking with us.

The wait has become unbearably long for ardent Dead Island fans. The second game in the series was unveiled back in 2014, before the work ran into major problems. Long delays, a lot of uncertainty and replacements of the development studio characterized the game’s development time, but now it seems that things will finally work out – even if there will be an extra small expansion towards the end.

Dambuster and publisher Deep Silver promise to share more information about the game via a separate show. It will be held on 6 December, and you can follow along via Twitch, YouTube or Dead Island’s website.
